Visit

Aunt Megan and Uncle Ryan came to visit!!!!! We had so much fun, it was wonderful to have them here for the week. The boys adored them. Its always funny to watch big men get all mushy around babies. Ryan was a natural. Later on in the week, a good friend of Megan and mine, Joy, came up from Portland to visit. It was so good to see her, if any of you know her, you know she is such a breath of fresh air!

You can see his two top teeth!

Evan now knows what it means to be a "ham". He loves the camera. He wouldn't put his arms down until daddy put the camera away.

We miss them all already!

Fathers

I have a really cool dad.
When I was little, he used to take me on dates. I got to pick the place...what a brave man. So, my favorite vision of my father is standing patiently in Claire's while I pick out my most favorite $4 sparkly thing. Most likely, his eyes are closed and he is envisioning himself screaming down the side of a mountain on a 4 pound mountain bike. Ahhh, serenity.

I can only imagine it was because I gave him such a wonderfully blissful 1st round, he decided to go another couple rounds. Getting to watch him parent all over again has been such a blessing in my life. He is amazing and for Mia, he is the center of it all.

Above all, he set the bar. The love and humility I saw in my dad, I searched for that in a spouse. I recognized it right away because its what sets my dad apart. Thankfully, I found it.

I can't wait until the boys are old enough to shower their daddy with love on this special day. The best part of parenting is watching your partner love what you love. He is such a great dad. In our conversation last night, he says "I just want to give them everything"...I know the feeling.

I have two great dads in my life. One that taught me from the beginning and one I get to learn and grow with until the end.

Perfection.

Update

I have not posted many details about our lives, just photos. The boys are growing so fast, its hard to keep up.

Evan:
-almost 19 lbs.
- crawls SUPER fast, pulls up on everything and is standing solo for a few seconds at a time.
- loves to feed himself fistfuls of cheerios.
- laughs at himself hysterically in any reflection.
- still working on getting some teeth.
- licks everything he can get his hands on.
- smiles constantly.

Alex:
- 22 lbs.
- loves to pull up and climb.
- standing for almost a min at a time & has taken a step or two solo.
- has both bottom teeth and the top left tooth is descending now. 2nd top tooth is about to break through.
- loves to splash in the Chessie's water bowl.
- has the most infectious laugh.

They are sleeping 6pm-6am with two solid naps during the day. We have cut down to 3 bottles a day and they pretty much eat anything I give them. I tried a lettuce leave the other day and they didn't get it. Blueberries are their favorite. Evan loves to feed himself but Alex would rather be fed. Their favorite "toy" is the electrical cords on anything. I don't get it. But, if they see one, whether or not its plugged into the wall, they go nuts. They grab it and wave it around.
We took them swimming the other day. It was a bit cold for Evan's liking but Alex loved it. He would splash himself in the face and then look at us like we did it to him. They love going on the swings at the park but are still unsure of the slide.

Matt is down to soccer one night a week but has taken on coaching kids outdoors on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Lacrosse is over for me for the season but Matt still offers to give me some afternoons off when he can get home early from work.

We have taken on a "date night". We made every Wednesday night our night to hang out. No company, no phone calls, no chores, just us. We have a nice dinner, watch a movie or play games and just enjoy the quiet. One of these nights we will ask a friend to stay at the house while the boys sleep so we can go on an actual date. But, it gives us a chance to remember life pre-child.

The weather has just turned a corner. Its finally out of the 60s into the 70s and sunny. This is what we have been waiting for. Megan and Ryan fly out this weekend and we can't wait. We also just planned a weekend trip to Portland in August and are trying to work out a trip to San Diego since Matt has to go down there for work.

We miss everyone on the East coast but are not jealous of your heat! Hope all is well!

We love...

crackers and Aunt Mia!

Quick Trip

For my mom's 50th birthday, they flew us back East for a week. We got to give her birthday hugs and kisses and experience the East Coast heat. We had a great time and although it was a much shorter trip that usual, we got to do some fun things and see family! Matt got to a Phillies game and attended a career conference in DC. We took and picked up Mia from school, played in the baby pool, rode bikes and went to Annapolis for a day. It was a whirl-wind trip but worth it!

This is how they fell asleep on the plane. Alex took a header off Matt's lap to lay in the middle. On his way down, he grabbed my arm and snuggled in. Too cute.

Aunt Megan and Uncle Ryan come soon and we can't wait to see them!
