This is the year that Matt and I turn 30. I got to go first, lucky me. He gets to be the younger man for a couple months. But, turns out, turning 30 really is no big deal. This past decade flew by in a flash and probably held some of our biggest life changes. Graduating college, our 1st jobs, getting married, moving across the country, having our 1st babies...busy busy. We are def. not the same people we were when we were crossing the decade barrier last time. We have grown up, fallen in love and have added new layers to who we are and how we see the world. In fact, I JUST learned that my husband really likes jelly beans. Weird.
My mom and Matt gave me the best birthday gift ever. Seriously, if my parents had bought be an actual pony when I was 8 and let me keep him in my room, it STILL would not have been better than this gift. I had the boys playing at Barnes & Nobel's and was in a very deep conversation with another pregnant mom about potty training. I hear Evan yell NANNIE! and I turned to the right to see Matt standing there taking a picture of me. A thousand things raced through my mind, none of which involved the actuality that my mother was behind me, trying to surprise me. As my brain was racing trying to understand why my husband would be at Barnes & Nobel in the middle of the day, snapping my picture, I finally saw her and it all came together. The pictures he took were actually kind of funny but I look so horrified, I will refrain from posting them on the internet. She stayed for a blissful 5 days. I had her all to myself...and man, to those of you who have your mom around...COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS. Don't take a second of that for granted, I never knew how amazing it is until I had it. I am ready to move into their garage! We had an awesome time and the boys soaked up every minute they could get with her. Although, they were a bit disappointed that Poppi was not there and asked for him often.
Since then, Matt and I have just been trying to prepare the best we can for our baby girl. No, we have still not picked out a name but the list is narrow and I think we will just wait until she gets here and ask her what she thinks. The boys have a loose understanding for what is happening but its def. going to be an adjustment. They have really taken to each other lately. They play together, wrestle, pester, and love on each other all the time and often find ways to entertain themselves. I am not too worried about jealousy although I am sure it will be somewhat of an issue. We will just take it a day at a time and before I know it, it will be a year from now and it will all be old news.
The weather has been beautiful which is just about all this pregnant mother could ask for. I sit out with the boys and they ride bikes, chase each other around and throw the ball for Chessie. They wear themselves out with little effort on my part. I am just so grateful for the sun. Matt has been in high gear lately, "nesting" really. Its a good thing he is because I am not. I had some pre-labor the other day and I think it was a wake up call for both of us. He finished up a bunch of his projects in record time and I racked up a record bill on Amazon. And now, we are ready whenever she decides to break free, which is soon I hope.
The midwives say she should be about a 7lb baby, not too big. I am well into feeling uncomfortable and ready to be not-pregnant. I know the newborn phase is hard and I am just ready to get the show on the road. She is extremely active, especially at night and I find its actually better to nap some during the day. We are just really excited to see what she is going to look like. Maybe we will get a Carlson/Campbell mix this time?

Our next post will most likely be about the birth of our daughter! Crazy! Hope everyone else is enjoying their mild winter, hope we are not going to pay for it with a horrible summer!
